The Local Citizen Foundation Uganda (LOCIFU) is a non-partisan, not-for-profit, non-governmental local community-based organization legally registered with Rubanda District Local Government in Southwestern Uganda. At LOCIFU, the local community and the vulnerable people in particular are always at the center of every action we take.

HIV/AIDS Prevention & Management

Since its founding, LOCIFU has provided exceptional care in the community to those affected by HIV/AIDS with the goal to educate, empower, and enrich lives.

Water & Sanitation

We have constructed water sources and wells, and have provided plastic tanks to the elderly to improve on the health and sanitation of the people in areas of our operation.

Human Rights Advocacy

Our staff have been visiting churches and different communities to interact with communities and educate them on particular issues in communities.

Disaster Response Management

In times of disaster, LOCIFU is always there to respond. LOCIFU has been providing emergency assistance to the victims of disasters, focusing on the most vulnerable.

Supporting the Indigenous Batwa

These are the most marginalized and poorest minority ethnic group of people in south-western Uganda. These people face highest level of discrimination...

Conflict Resolution & Peace building

LOCIFU has been working hand in hand with local leaders to resolve conflicts in communities in Rubanda, particularly land conflicts, domestic violence.

Biodiversity & Conservation

LOCIFU acknowledges the impact of climate change as a result of environmental degradation. We work for the restoration of wetlands in Uganda.

Modernized & Sustainable Community Based Agriculture

LOCIFU educates farmers to use manure and fertilizers in order to increase on the production of crops to get enough food and the surplus for sale. We have been putting much emphasis on Irish potatoes and banana plantations.

Women & Youth Empowerment

LOCIFU strives to develop programs that produce reductions in poverty and the marginalization of women and their families by providing economic, social and political opportunities for sustainability and self-determination.

Housing for the Poor & Vulnerable

We have always provided housing to the urban poor .We have termed this as “ENSURING SHELTER SECURITY“ to the urban poor.

Supporting the Disabled

LOCIFU believes that disability doesn’t mean inability. Keeping this in mind, we have tried our level best to transform the lives of the disable people through numerous programs including equipping the disabled people with vocational skills.
